How to use the formula

=searchvolume(range, location, format, period, header)

1. Range

With the range argument you can select the range of keywords you’d like to get search volume data for. Functions in Google Sheets time out after 30 seconds, so we recommend you only select a range up to a maximum of 3,000 rows.

1 request = 1,000 keywords. If you select a range lower than this number, you will still use 1 request (150 credits). That’s because keywords are requested in batches of 1,000 to our API provider.

<aside> 💡 **The search volume data for each batch of 1000 keywords is stored in a cache for 7 hours.

This will benefit you in two ways:

1️⃣** If you request a large batch of keywords and the function times out because of the 30 second limit in Google Sheets, you can input a smaller range to get the data that has been stored in the cache. For example, if you request 3,000 rows (A1:A3000) and it times out, you could input the first 1000 keywords of the same range again (A1:A1000) and that will have likely been stored in a cache, and you won’t use any credits.

Or alternatively, you could request 3,000 rows again (A1:A3000), or more, and you’ll only use 1 request for the batches of 1,000 keywords that haven’t been stored in a cache.

2. Location

There are over 50,000 locations you can get search volume data for your keywords. From cities, regions and countries from across the world.

The default value is set as “United Kingdom”.

You can also input the location as Global to get total search volume data across all countries.
